DALLAS, Texas—September 23, 2016—FanFuse is pleased to announce that David Houston, founder and CEO of Houston Group LLC, has joined the FanFuse Board of Advisors effective immediately. In this role, Houston will provide counsel to FanFuse Leadership on company sales, marketing, operations and positioning strategies and tactics.
He reminded me that we were born already knowing how to sift through the morass, how to tune-out and jettison all that is meaningless and mundane. How to navigate each corridor perfectly and how to continuously distill. And, when our eye catches a glimpse of our truth, that one piece that calls to us, we intrinsically focus and cause all else to fall into the background.
As marketers we react. We try to adapt to the aggressive speed at which these changes occur, to operate in the rapidly narrowing space between quarterly financials and some semblance of professional self-respect. But instead of innovating from a place of purpose and vision we often end up simply chasing the dragon.
It begs the question: are we witnessing a shift – perhaps driven by the oft-cited millennial altruistic ethos – towards a worldview in which one no longer has to choose between the right action and the profitable action? Can we, dare I say, actually create a scenario in which we can have both in equal share? Or, as us cynical GenXers would have it, does the marketing utility of the designation allow greater profits to be harvested from customers who will pay a premium accordingly?
